Amritsar, May 9 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The US-based Khalsa Global Reach Foundation and historic Khalsa College
today joined hands to donate relief material for the quarantined patients of the Covid-19 in Amritsar and its neighbouring districts. The Khalsa College authorities led by Principal Dr. Mehal Singh handed over the material, meant for quarantined Covid-19 positive patients stationed at various locations, to SDM-I Vikas Hira at the College campus here.
Dr. Mehal Singh who thanked Global Reach President Gurvarinder Kaur Sandhu for the special relief said that they contacted district administration and sought demand for the relief material. “The district administration stated that those who are quarantined need the basic essential items of daily needs and the same were provided today”, said Dr. Mehal Singh adding that some material was also for those frontline warriors fighting Coronavirus.
The relief material included masks, sanitizers, steamers, hand-washers, shampoos, buckets, stools, tooth-brushes, tooth pastes, mosquito replants, combs, mugs, soaps and tissue papers. The material amounting to more than Rs. 6.00 lakhs was immediately dispatched for the needy by the district administration, said SDM Hira, who thanked Global Reach Foundation, Khalsa College and Khalsa College Governing Council for the timely help of those who are stationed at various quarantine Centres.
“No doubt, there was a dire need of these essential items in these Centres”, said SDM Hira adding that other institutions and individuals must take motivation from Khalsa College and come forward for more such donations for the needy.
