Swiss City Residents form Joint Adhoc Committee to fight for Amenities

Deplore Absence of Facilities in Swiss City, Swiss Land, Swiss Green and Roseland

Amritsar, October 18 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The residents of four residential colonies including Swiss City, Swiss Land, Swiss Green and Roseland today formed a joint Adhoc Committee to press for their demands of basic amenities in the area. The residents said ther were living in highly inhabitable conditions for the past many years and their requests to Municipal Corporation, PUDA and Colonizers have fallen on deaf ears.

                   The 13-member Adhoc Committee included representatives from all the colonies and they will meet the Civic Body officials and public representatives to get the basic amenities of proper sewerage, cleanliness, proper roads, security and maintenance. The Committee members include Madam Sukhbans Bala, Gurjeet Singh Aulakh, Dr. Vinay Sukhija, Dr. Kashmir Singh Khunda, Dr. Raj Sukhwinder Singh Kaler, D.S Randhawa, J.P Singh, Colonel Raghbir Singh, Harjinder Singh Bamrah, Rachhpal Singh and Dharminder Singh, Balraj Singh and Kanta Punj

                        The resident vent their ire on the Colonisers who have pocketed huge amounts by selling the plots to the residents and have now vanished without completing the mandatory development works. The resident’s complaint of non-availability of even basic amenities including roads, sewerage, cleanliness, water supply and security.

                  Several representations have been made to authorities but of no avail, said they adding that roads are broken, streets are unpaved, sewerage is choked, insanitary conditions prevails all around. “So pathetic is the conditions that the Coonies which include PUDA approved areas give the picture of slums. There is total neglect and living conditions are inhabitable”, said a resident.

                  The Committee will soon meet the officials and press upon colonizers to complete the development works which include proper roads, plugging of breaches in boundary wall, security and sanitation. They said the legal remedies are also being chalked out to take the issue to the Court as officials and coloniosers are giving scant regard to the demand of the residents.
