Amritsar, November 7 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Senior BJP leader Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina today condemned
the attempt by Pakistan government to “officially” control Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur in the neighboring country. He said Pak has announced that the Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara project has been put under the administrative control of the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB), a non-Sikh body.
Chhina said the Sikh shrines are managed by Sikhs themselves and not by the government bodies and the Pak’s move has shaken the Sikh world. “It is highly condemnable as the shrines cannot be put under control but to be managed by the Sikh bodies themselves”, said he in a statement issued here.
The Gurdwara was under Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Prabhandhak Committee (PSGPC) and run by the minority Sikh Community but the management has been taken away and transferred to a body which is devoid of any Sikh representation. “In this way, Sikh community would have no say in the management of the shrines, which is unacceptable”, said he.
Chhina added that the Sikhs are already facing prosecution in Pakistan along with the other minority communities and the present case further highlight the plight of the Sikhs in the neighboring country when their shrines are being put under direct government control. He said present Pak regime was highly insensitive to Sikh sentiments and their religious freedom.
