Deputy Commissioner orders to expedite the issuance of Sarbat sehat bima cards

Till now 64.37 % households covered in the district

 Kapurthala, March 24 (Punjab Post Bureau) – To expedite the process of issuance of e-cards under Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana with a view to provide free treatment facility of Rs. 5 lakh to various sections of the people by the Punjab Government, Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Deepti Uppal has asked the officials to ensure the card making process on war footing till march 31st to cover the maximum people under that.

In a meeting here at DAC today she said that e-card implementation has been declared as flagship program by the Punjab government so that the cards under this scheme must be cover all the eligible farmers , small traders, Journalists, construction workers, blue card holders etc.

                    She asked the SDMs to set up special camps in the villages with large population and in the villages or mohallas where not many cards have been issued yet.

                    She also asked the District Food and Supply Controller, District Mandi Officer, Construction Workers Board officials and the GST department to ensure that every concerned beneficiary gets a card. Besides that Deputy Medical Commissioner Dr. Sarika Duggal have been asked to submit the report on card making on daily basis.

                  According to the officials of the State Health Agency, out of the total 109737 families in the district, 70635 families which constitute 64.37 per cent of the total have been covered.

                   The Deputy Commissioner directed the Construction Workers Board to pay special attention to the registration of registered construction workers and small traders registered with the Excise and Taxation Department and said that every construction worker should be contacted to inform the importance of the card.

                    Meanwhile District Mandi Officer Arvinder Singh said that a total of 9000 cards were to be issued in the farmers category , out of which 7841 cards have been issued so far. He also informed that 5 Market Committees in the district at Kapurthala, Phagwara, Bhulath, Dhilwan and Sultanpur Lodhi were running continuous camps for making e-cards so that the farmers could easily make their own cards.

               Prominent amongst those present on the occasion included Additional Deputy Commissioner General Rahul Chaba, Additional Deputy Commissioner Development SP Angra, Additional Deputy Commissioner Phagwara Rajiv Verma, all SDMs and officials of other departments.
