DAV Public School Pays Homage to Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev

Amritsar, March 23 (Punjab Post Bureau) – DAV Public School Lawrence Road conducted  a special assembly to pay homage to great martyrs Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev on their martyrdom day. Bhagat Singh was an Indian revolutionary who played a pivotal role in the Indian Independence Movement. He along with his associates, Shivaram Rajguru and Sukhdev , conspired to kill Scott.  However, in a case of mistaken identity, they shot John P Saunders. In 1929, with the intention to protest againt the Public Safety Bill and the Trade Dispute Act, they threw two bombs  in the Assembly Chamber and  surrendered voluntarily after that . After the trial they were given death sentence. It was an 23^rd March 1931 that the three of them were hanged to death.

                            The teachers of the school highlighted the sacrifices made by Bhagat Singh and his associates. Their love for the country, passion and devotion to see the country free from the shackles of British rule make them a role model for the youth. The teachers read out a few inspiring excerpts from their life, recited poems and slogan of ‘Inquilab Zindabad’ and ‘Jai Hind’ reverberated in the premises.

                         Regional Officer Punjab Zone–A Dr. Neelam Kamra and the Manager of the school Dr. Pushpinder Walia said that the sacrifice made by the trio is an inspiration for the youth and they must imbibe such ideals for living a meaningful life.

                          Mrs. Anita Mehra Principal of the school in her address said that the youngsters today need to introspect and revive patriotic values and spirit of nationalism as demonstrated by them. She asked the students to take a pledge to make the country proud and free in the real sense as dreamt by these martyrs.
