PCCTU demands work from home – Dr. Yadav

Amritsar, April 25 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The Punjab and Chandigarh College Teachers Union (PCCTU) has demanded allow teachers to work from home to safeguard the staff from Covid-19. In a memorandum given to Hon’ble OP Soni Cabinet Minister Punjab the deputation comprising Dr. BB Yadav, Dr. G.S Sekhon, Dr. Seema Jaitly, Dr. Munish Gupta, Prof. G.S Sidhu and Prof. Rajesh Mittu saiid that government should direct the education department to allow work from home to prevent the spread of pandemic.

                   Dr. B.B Yadav Area Secretary GNDU and Dr. Gurdas Singh Sekhon, President Amritsar District said that the teachers already are conducting online classes from their respective colleges. But as per the data on COVID-19 from Indian government cases are increasing day by day and pandemic is infecting the teachers working in the educational institutions. There is also shortage of vaccine in the state and all the teachers have not been vaccinated which may increase the chances of community transmission. So, Organization appealed the state government to temporarily close the educational institutions and allow online teaching from home.
