Relates to November 1984 Genocide of Sikhs
Amritsar, June 26 (Punjab Post Bureau) – SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur, SGPC senior vice-president Surjit Singh
Bhitewad and Chief Secretary Harjinder Singh Dhami jointly released a new edition of the book ‘Sikhan Da Qataleam’ related to November 1984 Genocide of Sikhs across the country.
SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur said that the book was first published in June 1985 by the SGPC in four volumes. Now four parts of this book ‘Sikhan Da Qataleam’ are compiled and reprinted by the Dharam Prachar Committee of SGPC as one.
“After the Union government’s attack on Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib and Sri Akal Takht Sahib in June 1984, the genocide of Sikhs was carried out in November 1984 across the country, including Delhi, which is forgettable for Sikhs. This is the brutality that proved to be a permanent disgrace on the forehead of the then Congress government”, said SGPC President.
“Surjit Singh Sokhi has done a historic job of recording in this book the information gathered from the eyewitnesses of the November 1984 Sikh genocide”, said Bibi Jagir Kaur.
She said that now the Dharam Prachar Committee has made an effort to make the people of the world aware of the particulars of this shameful genocide against the Sikhs by compiling its four parts.
Talking about the book SGPC senior vice-president Surjit Singh Bhitewad and chief secretary Harjinder Singh Dhami said that it is a historic resource for future generations which will continue to educate the youth about the atrocities perpetrated on Sikhs.
On this occasion SGPC members Bhai Manjit Singh, Bhai Ram Singh, OSDs to SGPC president Dr. Amrik Singh Latifpur and Dr. Sukhbir Singh, Dr. Suba Singh, literature in-charge Gurmeet Singh and others were present.
