Amritsar, August 19 (Punjab Post Bureau) – In continuation of its efforts toward environment conservation, NSS
Units of BBK DAV College Women organized a tree plantation drive in the college campus. This drive was organized as a part of Swachhata Pakhwada Scheme, which aims at environment perseverance and safety Lakhbir Singh Commandant 5th India Reserve Battalion was the Chief Guest for the event. All the volunteers and programme officers of the NSS units of the college took an oath to ensure environmental cleanliness and to contribute 100 hours in swachhata campaign. Oath was followed by a rally which was flagged off to spread the awareness about environmental cleanliness. Lakhbir Singh said that need is to inculcate cleanliness habits in our daily routines. He said that people should be made aware about environment hygiene and protection.
Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia said that Swachhata Pakhwada is an annual event of the college. NSS unit of the college works relentlessly throughout the year to make its volunteers as well as citizens aware about the significance of cleanliness, tree plantation, and the protection of the environment. She said that it is the moral duty of every citizen to work towards environment preservation.
Sudarshan Kapoor Chairman Local Managing Committee in his address said that cleanliness is next to Godliness. He said that all should take the pledge of cleanliness and make their household and the country garbage free.
