Wheat procurement crosses 3 lakh MT in Kapurthala

Payment of Rs.541 crore made against purchase of wheat to farmers

Kapurthala, 29 April (Punjab Post Burearu) – Punjab government has procured more than 3 lakh metric tonnes of wheat in Kapurthala district. Disclosing this here today Deputy Commissioner Mr. Vishesh Sarangal said that till date the procurement of wheat in the entire district has been 304245.54 MT, out of which the highest was made by Markfed with 75648 MT, PUNSUP 71842 MT , PUNGRAIN 64968 MT, Punjab State Warehousing Corporation procured 42246 MT, FCI has procured 27853 MT and private buyers procured 21687 MT.

He said that Rs. 541 crore has been paid to the farmers for the wheat procured which is 97% of the payment due to made within 72 hours of procurement. Markfed made payment of 148 crore, PUNSUP 136 crore, Pungrain 127 crore, Punjab State Warehousing Corporation 83 crore and FCI 45 crore. He asked the officials to ensure timely lifting of procured wheat.
