SGPC to organise Gurmat Camps in summer vacations – Dhami

Refresher course camps to be organised for staff and religious teachers of Gurmat Colleges

Amritsar, May 19 (Punjab Post Bureau) – In the Dharam Prachar Committee (DPC) meeting presided over by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate  Harjinder Singh at the SGPC office on Tuesday, the decision has been taken to organise grand Gurmat Samagams (religious congregations) and Amrit Sanchar Samagams (initiation ceremony) in every constituency. It has also been decided to organise Gurmat Camps in the cities and villages during the summer vacations of the students to impart basic knowledge of Gurbani, Sikh Rehat Maryada (code of conduct) and the Gurus’ history to them.

                   Moreover, the SGPC’s DPC will also carry out programs to preach Sikh faith through digital medium with the aim of taking the religious preaching campaign to the international level, as per the need of the hour.

                  Giving information about the decisions taken in the DPC’s meeting, Advocate S. Harjinder Singh said under the vigorous Dharam Prachar Lehar (religious preaching campaign) the groups of pracharaks will be sent to all the villages of Punjab and with the support of SGPC members, a grand Gurmat Samagam and Kirtan Darbar will be organised in every constituency. He said Amrit Sanchar will also be organised during these congregations.

                  SGPC President said the students and staff of Sikh Missionary Colleges and Gurmat Institutions will organise Gurmat teaching camps in the Gurdwara Sahibs during the summer vacations. Under these camps, knowledge about Gurbani, Gurus’ history and Sikh Rehat Maryada will be shared in every village for a period of one month and on the conclusion of the camp, a march will be carried out against the menace of drugs.

                  SGPC President said that the preaching of Sikh faith will also be done through digital mediums with the view of the present era being of technology. He said, under this, the dhadis (balladeers), kavishars (poets) and pracharaks (preachers) will carry out the work of religious preaching from the platforms of social media.

              He said a decision has also been taken to organise 5-day Gurmat refresher course camps for the religious teachers of SGPC’s educational institutions and staff of Gurmat colleges and institutions. The expert scholars of Gurmat will address during these refresher camps on the topic of ‘Gurmat Education and Teaching Guidelines’ and along with this, the teachers will also be motivated to prepare the Sikh youths for tackling the present Panthak challenges. During the meeting, the simplification of administrative affairs of Dharam Prachar Committee was also done.
