BBK DAV College for Women holds its 52nd Convocation

 Amritsar, April (Punjab Post Bureau) – BBK DAV College for Women held its 52nd Convocation to award degrees to the 2021-22 batch of graduates & post graduates. Dr. Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh MLA Amritsar North graced the occasion as Chief Guest, while Dr. Harmohinder Singh Bedi, Padma Shri Awardee and Chancellor, Central University of Himachal Pradesh, was the Guest of Honour for the occasion. Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia and Sh. Sudarshan Kapoor, Chairman, LMC, welcomed the honourable guests with saplings, symbolic of our enduring bond with Mother Nature. The function started with lamp lighting, chanting of Ved Mantras and DAV Gaan.

Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia presented the annual report of the college, highlighting the honours and achievements of BBK in Academics, Sports and Co-curricular events at state, national and international level. She congratulated the degree holders and encouraged them to be the torch-bearer of the lofty Vedic values, academic excellence and work ethics in all walks of life. While addressing the students, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia said that one should learn to maintain balance between personal and professional life.She motivated them to work hard for attaining their goals while facing the barriers that come in their way to success.

In his convocation address the Chief Guest Dr. Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh acknowledged the tremendous contribution of BBK DAV in women education. He emphasized on the importance of vocational education and suggested to bring innovation in traditional courses to make them comprehensive and sustainable for global challenges.

The Guest of Honour Dr. Harmohinder Singh Bedi congratulated the degree holders and wished them a bright future. He said that it is very important to invest in women education as it will positively impact the economic, social and health standards of society.

Nearly 1100 graduates & post-graduates from varied disciplines of Arts, Commerce, Science, Journalism, Economics, Computers Science, Multimedia and Fashion Design were awardees on this occasion.

The Department of Youth Welfare enthralled the audience with spell-binding musical performances. Special features on the occasion were Gazal, Sufi Dance and Folk Orchestra.

Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia and Sudarshan Kapoor honoured the guests with souvenirs.The special contribution of Kora Kagaz Club of the college was also hailed on the occasion, foregrounding its contribution to community development by distributing notebooks to the children of underprivileged sections of the society. It is pertinent to note that all the notebooks were made from recycled paperby the NSS unit of the college. Sudarshan Kapoor proposed the vote of thanks while Sandeep Ahuja and Rakesh Mehra from Arya Samaj, Amritsar, along with all the faculty members of the college were also present on the occasion.

Dr. Shelly Jaggi Dean, Press and Public Liaison conducted the stage and the function concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
