Education Elevates the status of Women in Society

Seminar on `Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ at Khalsa College of Education

Amritsar, Dec. 20 (Dharmender Singh Rataul)- The imparting of education leads to elevation of the status of women in any society. Thus the stress is must on education for the girls in Punjab. This was stated by Varun Nagpal, PCS, Member Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Tarn Taran who was speaking at a seminar on `Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ at Khalsa College of Education (KCE) here today. He said the sensitization drive is must for the youth at the school level to educate them about the gender equality and women status in the society. He said the education also makes the women economically independent thus making their position within the family and outside respectable.

KCE Principal Dr.Jaswinder Singh Dhillon who welcomed the guests and said the seminar was organized to create awareness about the gender sensitization. Dr.Baljit Kaur, National Family Health Trainer also spoke on the subject apart from Prof. Rashpal Khambra, from Lovely Professional University and Doordarshan, Jalandhar. The program, said Dhillon was part of government of India’s scheme for generating awareness and improving the efficiency of delivery of welfare services meant for women and depicting concerns of the girl child and women.
