Amritsar, Jan. 12 ( Punjab Post Bureau) – Lohri was celebrated with full zeal and enthusiasm at the Campus of DAV Public School, Lawrence Road. The school bore a festive look on this occasion which marks the culmination of winter. The students sang folk songs to celebrate this day. The whole campus reverberated with the cheers of ‘Sunder Mundriye’. The students read out the history of the festival and also informed about its cultural significance. The Principal of school, Dr. Neera Sharma lighting the bonfire amidst cheers of ‘Happy Lohri’, blessed the students. She asked the students to celebrate the festival in the right spirit and avoid using Chinese thread for Kite flying . She added that the festival should be celebrated with brotherhood and wished health, wealth and prosperity for everyone.
Regional Director Amritsar Zone Dr.(Mrs.) Neelam Kamra Principal BBK DAV College for Women and the Manager of the school Dr. K.N. Kaul OSD, DAV University, Jalandhar sent their best wishes for the teachers and the students. They said festivals are a strong symbol of our unity. This festival brings the promise of growth and prosperity and joy for ones hard work in the form of rich harvests. They blessed the students for their annual exams ahead and asked them to put in their best.
