255 students awarded degrees at KCE’s Convocation
Amritsar, March 12 (Dharmender Singh Rataul) – At least 255 students from B.Ed and M.Ed. classes were awarded degrees at Khlasa College of Education (KCE)’s Annual Convocation here today. In his convocational address, Secretary, Higher Education, Punjab Dr.Roshan Sunkaria stressed on `skill development’ to be the primary focus of education and called for revamping of the education system to achieve this goal. He said the teacher’s profession is the noblest and most pious profession and congratulating the degree holders, who would the future teachers, he asked them to play role in modernizing the education system. He said the present system of imparting education is turning obsolete and new methods of teaching and research are required to be adopted to make youth skilful. Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) honourary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina who presided over Convocation also emphasized that aspirations of young generations are high and society and nation must be prepared to create environment to meet youth’s aims. He said the youth’s energy can be channelized by providing quality education. He also said growing number of youngsters is `strength of the society’. Earlier Chhina and KCE Principal Dr.Surinder Kaur Dhillon welcomed the guests. Dr.Dhillon also read the progress report of the college citing the achievements of the college in academics, cultural activities and sports. She said that under the able leadership of KCGC, the College was progressing day and night and new infrastructure was added under guidance of President Satyajit Singh Majithia, and honourary secretary Chhina. Others present during the function included KCGC additional honourary secretary Sawinder Singh Kathunangal, finance secretary Gunbir Singh, SS Mannan, SS Chhina, Principal Khalsa for Women Sukhbir Kaur Mahal, Principal Kcet Dr. Amarpal Singh, Principal Kcn Dr. Neelam Hans, Principal Kcips DK Sandhu, Principal Kcgsss Tajinder Kaur Bindra.
