6 packets of Heroin, 1 mobile with 1 PAK sim seized near Border Post Chhanmula

Amritsar, Mar. 25 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Border Security Force personnel have successfully seized 6 packets of contraband suspected to be Heroin and 1 Mobile phone with 1 Pak Sim on Punjab border today in the area of responsibility of Border out Post Chhanmula, Ex-67 Bn BSF, and Amritsar Sector.

Keeping in view the vulnerability of Border from smuggling point of view especially in view of wheat crops and adverse weather conditions which give cover to these Anti-National Elements, Shri Anil Paliwal, IPS, Inspector General BSF Punjab Frontier has issued operational guidelines to further strengthen border domination so as to effectively check the menace of narcotics smuggling and activities of Anti National Elements on Punjab border with Pakistan. Accordingly, Sh M F Farooqui, IPS, DIG Sector BSF Amritsar ensures implementation along with Field Commanders to maintain extra vigil on border to thwart the attempts of smugglers/Anti-National Elements. Tactical operations are being mounted to foil the attempts of the smugglers during this season.

The troops were on high alert as intelligence inputs were received regarding threat of smuggling from the area of Border Out Post Chhanmula, Ex-67 Bn BSF, Amritsar Sector. Sh M F Farooqui said that in today’s seizure the smugglers had put the drugs in small cloth bag with a string to throw the consignment to a far distance to avoid detection by BSF Sentry. In the previous two cases of BOP Naushera Dhalla, Ex-163 dated 23 March 2015 (1.5 Kgs heroin) and BOP Daoke, Ex-163 Bn dated 13^th Feb 2015 (580 grams of heroin) also the smugglers had avoided to come near the Border Security Fence and in one case they hid the consignment in sandals and in the other they used small packets of contraband of approx. 300 gms each and tied them with a string to throw them at a distance. Due to strict vigil maintained by BSF personnel, the smugglers are forced to adopt these new modus operandi wherein they do not have to come near the Border Security Fencing as happened in these cases.
