BBK DAV contributes a great deal for the winning of MAKA trophy of GNDU- Joshi
Amritsar, Apr. (Punjab Post Bureau) – BBK DAV College for Women, Lawrence Road celebrated its Annual Sports Day today. The function began with the floral welcome of the Chief Guest and lighting of the lamp, alongwith the recitation of Ved Mantras. Sh. Anil Joshi, Hon’ble Minister for Local Bodies, Medical Education and Research (Punjab) was the Chief Guest on this occasion. Dr. Harvinder Singh Randhawa, Deputy Director Sports and Head, Department of Physical Education, GNDU, Amritsar was the Guest of Honour on this Day. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra presented the Annual Report of the college highlighting the achievements of sports at International, National, Intervarsity and other levels for the session 2014-2015.
Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra in her report told that 6 players of International Repute are the pride of the college namely Pooja, Kezia, Sneh Rana, Parvati, Sayona , Manisha. 21 teams won championship in Inter-College competitions, 11 teams got first Runners-up positions and 2 teams got fourth position. Sh. Anil Joshi, in his speech, motivated the students to excel more and more in sports. He emphasized the encouragement of Women Sports and further added that BBK DAV College has emerged as a great platform for that and he announces Rs. 5 Lac to the college for the college development project. He said that BBK DAV College, contributes a great deal for the winning of MAKA trophy of GNDU. The college has also won Shaheed-E-Azam Bhagat Singh trophy and for this GNDU announces Rs. 52000/- to the college & 13 Lac cash to the players.
Dr. H.S. Randhawa blessed the prize winners and congratulated them on their success. The players of the college presented Yoga Show, Rythmic Gymnastics, Rope Malkhumb & Haryanvi Dance and through their brilliant feats, they won the hearts of the audience. The chief Guest released the college Sports Bulletin and gave away the prize to 386 players for their marvelous achievements in sports. Sh. Sudershan Kapoor, Chairperson, LMC presented vote of thanks. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra presented momentos to the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour. Sh. J.K. Luthra, Dr. V.P. Lakhanpal, Dr. K.S. Manchanda, Sh. Hira Lal Kandhari, Sh. Satish Sood, S. Mohinderjit Singh, Sh. Charanjit Rai Mohindru and Sh. Padam Parkash graced the occasion with their benign presence. The function concluded with the singing of National Anthem.
