Rickshaw Versus Helicopter in Amritsar- Doctor Daljit filed his nomination

PPN050412

Amritsar, 5 April ( Punjab Post Bureau)- Unlike high profile candidates who prefer a helicopter or last time former MP Navjot Singh Sidhu was seen riding atop an elephant to file his nomination papers APP nominee for Amritsar, Padamshree Dr Daljit Singh went on a cycle rickshaw  in keeping with the image of his Aam Adami Party to file his nominations today. An interesting side light was that he was followed all the way by a differently enabled person who cycled his own rickshaw. This person is an ardent supporter. “He is the only hope for the people of Amritsar,” he said in an emotionally charged voice.”It was the Lord who ordained my misfortune, but for the rest of my brethren, it’s the successive Akali and congress governments, who have robbed every one of even their limbs. Punjab is on crutches today.”  Dr Daljit’s entourage of some 150 people was on foot. En route from his home to the district courts, he was stopped at various points by groups of people who came out of their homes to have a word, to encourage the doctor and to don the AAP cap from his hands. It was AAP all the way. The doctor’s genuine humbleness and warm and earthy personality, despite his towering professional and intellectual achievements , contrasts sharply with the stark arrogance of both Captain Amarinder Singh and Arun Jaitely. He resonates with everyone he talks to, be it the gentleman in an expensive SUV, the young students who love to pose with him, the fruit vendor who offered him grapes, or the group of homemakers who gathered outside a bungalow to wave at him. Before going for to file his nomination, he paid obeisance at the famous Shivala Bhaaiyaan and then toured the localities around the shrine. He also visited  Sundar Nagar and Tilak Nagar. People of Amritsar now almost expect him early in the day and flock out as soon as they hear of his visit. In Amritsar its truly Aam Admi versus Khaas Admi.
