Amritsar, 5 April (Jasbir Singh Saggu)- 5th Unified Games 2014 were organized by combined efforts of Mr. Chandar Shekhar Kohli in association with All India Pingalwara Charitable Society at Manawala Complex of Pingalwara. Mr. Chandar Shekhar Kohli an NRI from Dubai alongwith his NRI group from USA has associated them with Pingalwara to organize the Fifth Unified Games. First Inaugural Games were organized by him on 31-03-2009. This has become an annual event. The aim behind these games is to collect normal, specially challenged, handicapped and hearing impaired section of the society at one platform in the sports field. The aim is also to sensitize the normal population about the special needs of the neglected segment of the society and to remove the sense of inferiority complex among children with special needs. The games were inaugurated by Mr. Kartar Singh Retired Inspector General of Police, Padam Shri and Arjuna Awardee eminent world wrestling player. Mr. RS Sidhu Supdt. Police Majitha Distt was a guest of honour. The events started with Flag hoisting of Unified Games and March-Past by the students of Bhagat Puran Singh Senior Secondary School, Bhagat Puran Singh Special School and Bhagat Puran Singh School for Deaf. Large number of residents from Pingalwara, students from various Pingalwara Institutions took part in the event. Dr Inderjit Kaur President All India Pingalwara Charitable Society in her address appreciated the efforts of Mr. Kohli in organizing such a momentous event and hoped that such event will inspire the residents of Amritsar about the special needs of the children. A large number of NRI community from USA and Dubai especially S. Amarjit Singh Bal (International Hockey Coach), Col. Darshan Singh Bawa Administrator Pingalwara, Jai Singh, Administrator Manawala, Principal Gurdev Singh alongwith many other were specially present.
