
Amritsar, June 5 (Punjab Post Bureau) – World Environment Day was celebrated at Global Institutes, Amritsar on 5th June, 2015 to promote awareness among students on the importance of preserving our biodiversity, the need to identify problems related to the environment and ways to take corrective action. The faculty and the students started the day by taking an environment protection oath. A special assembly was also organized for the same. The event was given the title “Save trees, Save earth”. The students pledged to plant and nurture trees and vowed to ensure that their family and neighbors too plant saplings. By pledging to promote a culture of environment-friendliness through recycling, water conservation and rain water harvesting, each one of them were inspired do their best to save their mother earth. Apart from this cultural program was also organized which included the events like Giddha and Bhangra.
Earlier, Dr. B.S. Chandi, Chairman, Global Institutes inaugurated the event. Dr. Akashdeep Singh, Vice Chairman motivated the students to use eco-friendly products and to help in reusing and recycling of things. He encouraged them to engage in protecting the environment on a continuous basis. He also added, “Care for the Environment and you Care for yourself first ”. The Director also addressed on the occasion and urged the students to contribute their best in spreading awareness, in keeping their surrounding neat and clean and green as the environment is indeed our collective responsibility. He wanted them to begin this “Save Environment” campaign from their homes, streets, college and city.
