
Amritsar 26 Jun (Punjab Post Bureau) – Activists from National Student Union of India (NSUI) and members of District Congress Committee Amritsar (Rural) under the leadership of DCC president Gurjeet Singh Aujla today burnt an effigy of Union Minister for HRD Smriti Irani and demanded her resignation. As a candidate in 2004 elections from Chandni Chowk in Delhi, Irani had declared that she had a Bachelor of Arts degree (1996 Delhi University School of Correspondence). In 2014 elections from Amethi, Irani declared Bachelor of Commerce Part-1, School of Open Learning (Correspondence), University of Delhi-1994. Later on Irani claimed that she also has a degree from the prestigious Yale University in the US. However she didn’t explain that 11 Indian MPs went to Yale University in 2014 to complete a six-day leadership program with Yale faculty. Aujla said that in 2012, the Supreme Court had ruled that false disclosures in an affidavit can be a ground for rejection of a candidate’s nomination. NSUI district president Arpan Aujla said that Modi is trying to be a dictator and is shielding his in house criminals. He added that Smriti Irani and Lalit Modi are ruin the respect of India in world.
Congressmen including Vikas Soni, Block president Raiya KK Sharma, State Secretary Kisan Majdoor Cell Congress Committee Santokh Singh Bhalaipur, MC Raiya Jagtar Singh, Parmod Kalia, NSUI district president Arpan Aujla, State secretary Kanwar Maan, Nipan, Harman Gill, Mehtab Dhillon and Harpreet Chhina joined the protest.
