
Amritsar, July 11 (Punjab Post Bureau) – BBK DAV College for Women is all set to introduce a new career oriented course “Diploma in Clinical Diagnostic Techniques” under the scheme of Community Colleges of University Grants Commission with an intake capacity of 50 female students, from the current academic session i.e. 2015-16. The admission for the course is in process. The eligibility for joining this course is 10+2 with 45% aggregate marks.
The main objective of this course is generate the employment opportunities for the girl students in the field of clinical Diagnostic. The clinical diagnostic professionals analyze blood, body fluids, tissues, and cells to determine the presence or absence of disease. The diploma will be an excellent starting point for career advancement in the fields of Medicine, Dentistry, Public Health, Biomedical technology, Healthcare Management and administration. After the completion of course, the students will be able to work in hospital laboratories, physician’s private laboratories, pharmaceutical industries, Research and teaching institutions, Biotechnology companies, Veterinary clinics, Infertility Clinics, Cosmetic and Food industry, Sales, marketing and Product development sectors, Forensic Laboratories etc. so, this course has a tremendous scope for the placement of the students.
The Community College Programme has two exit levels i.e. (i) Certificate Course (ii) Diploma. The certificate course will be of Six months duration whereas the diploma course will be awarded after the completion of one year.
Another good feature of the course is that each student enrolled in the certificate or diploma course will be given a scholarship of 1000/- (Rupees One Thousand) per month so that there is no financial burden on any student who aspire to acquire skills related to the course.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has approved the proposal of BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar and has sanctioned Rs. 78.00 Lac for Diploma in Clinical Diagnostic Techniques for a period of two years. The Grant-in-Aid will be used to set up laboratories/Workshops/Classrooms/Procurement of teaching and learning materials, machinery, and equipment besides other recurring expenses.
