Amritsar, July, 12 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Amritsar Vikas Manch welcoming Sh. Arun Jaitley Hon’ble Finance Minister of India on his visit to he holy city of Amritsar on July 14, puts the demands before him, to be accepted and implemented immediately. Briefing the press today Patron Principal Kulwant Singh Ankhi said that on strong demand from the around 50 lakh NRI’s settled in Europe, U.S.A & Australian Countries and Devotees/Tourists visiting Amritsar the direct International and Domestic flights should be started immediately from Sri Guru Ram Dass Ji International Airport Amritsar. International flights are Amritsar–Toronto, Amritsar–Vancouver, Amritsar–London, Amritsar– Birmingham, Amritsar–Frankfurt, Amritsar– Kuala Lumpur, Amritsar- Bangkok, Amritsar –Melbourne, Amritsar– ydney and Domestic Flights incluedes Amritsar-Jaipur, Amritsar-Kolkata, Amritsar-Hazur Sahib Nanded, Amritsar-Patna Sahib, Amritsar-Bangaluru, Amritsar-Chennai, Amritsar-Goa etc.
Principal Ankhi said that keeping in view the Religious, Political and Historical position of Amritsar in India history All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) sanctioned to Punjab should be setup in or around Amritsar, because as per Punjab Health Deptt. 2014 report number of AIDS and Cancer patients is maximum in Amritsar. Amritsar has also well National & International Air, Rail and Road connectivity, so it deserves the setting up of AIIMS here. Though Amritsar Medical college is the oldest in Northern Indian since 1920, but its Guru Nanak Dev Hospital lacks specialist Doctors, State-of-Art machinery and infrastructure and medicines. Amritsar is the 2nd largest City of Punjab, said Ankhi. It receives nearly One Lakh visitors daily from the country and abroad, many of them needs medical treatment and medical checkup facility. Therefore, Amritsar rightly deserves AIIMS. He reminded Sh. Arun Jaitley that he himself has suggested AIIMS for Amritsar during his election campaign, so the peoples of Amritsar strongly demands the setting up of AIIMs in Amritsar.
He also reminded Sh. Jaitely that Amritsar has been declared as I.T. Hub earlier by the Punjab Govt. for the last 4 years and Software Technology Parks of India has also sanctioned incubation centre for Amritsar. The people of Amritsar requests Jaitley to persuade Infosys, Wipro, Microsoft etc. to open their R/D centre and I.T. Parks.
He also demanded the Amritsar-Patti-Makhu Rail Line project to be implemented immediately for border belt. He said that that by constructing this rail link distance between Amritsar-Mumbai will be lessened by 260 Km. and it will save six hours of time along with Rail fare. Rush on Amritsar-Delhi-Mumbai will also be reduced.
The other demands highlighted in the demand charter are to setup International Cricket stadium Amritsar to promote sports tourism. To hand over the entire Ram Bagh (Company Bagh) to Archeological Survey of India for its better upkeep and restoration of Buildings. To setup a world class Tourism Park similar to (ADLAB entertainment Park near Mumbai) near Amritsar city. And to make Amritsar a world class tourist destination and to make it tourist friendly. A detailed Project Report should also be prepared by inviting global tenders from world renowned companies and their survey report should be implemented in letter and spirit.
