It is notable that Teeyan is a festival of Punjab & Haryana celebrated with fun and frolic by the ladies in the month of Sawan. Going back to history, because of hot and humid weather in the past, husbands and wives were separated and married women were sent to their paternal houses. Childhood friends used to meet each other and they used to assemble under a tree with swings on it. They used to dance, sing, swing, mimic and enjoy. In the modern era, these customs have vanished. To keep the young generation aware of the heritage and culture, Indian Academy of Fine Arts celebrate Teeyan and Lohri every year. Teeyan has become an integral part of Summer Art Festival.
