Verka Milk Plant observes World School Milk Day

Amritsar, September 30 (Punjab Post Bureau) –  Deputy Commissioner Mr. Ravi Bhagat today encouraged young children to drink milk besides making it a part of their daily diet to witness a healthy life besides avoiding junk food to keep them active and healthy. Delivering a lecture on significance of Milk in life, Mr. Bhagat, who was addressing to more than 700 school students at Verka Milk Plant here, appealed school managements, teachers and students that the schools could arrange visits of students to Verka Milk Plant. He said that VMP has decided to arrange these tours on every Wednesday for school students so they could understand the importance of milk and milk products.

          While presiding over district level World School Milk Day program organized by Verka Milk Plant here, Mr. Bhagat said that consuming Milk provides us source of various nutrients including protein, vitamin B2, B12, calcium etc, which should be part of daily diet. He also asked the school managements to launch a concerted drive to motivate students towards drinking milk, yogurt etc, which provides us real nutritional. Mr. Bhagat said that these nutrients play a significant role in bone health including growth and development of bones etc.

          Deputy Commissioner also extended a message to parents and teachers to play a key role to promote the habit of drinking milk amongst students. Mr. Bhagat also distributed packed kheer, milk, lassi etc products of Verka to students of various schools participated in World School Milk Day. Milkfed Director Mr. Yadvinder Singh emphasized the need to make aware young generations about healthy life so that healthy society could be built up. He said that making young generations healthier is equal to build a healthy future.

          Dr. Dalbir Singh Sogi, Professor Food Science and Technology Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar also apprised the hundreds of students about the milk, milk products along quality and rich ingredient. Dr. Ram Singh, Medical Officer, Verka also spoke about the health and ill-effects of junk food. General Manager Milk Plant Verka Mr. H.S. Sandhu thanked Deputy Commissioner and welcomed teachers and students to make this educative and informative program a great success. It is pertinent that more than 20 schools participated in the program.  Prominent amongst those present on the occasion included Mr. Daljit Singh, Mr. Uttam Kumar, Mr. R.K. Soni, Mr. Balbir Singh, Mr. Lakhvir Singh, Mr. Preet Pal Singh, Mr. Gurdev Singh, Mr. Paritosh Mishra, Mr. V.K. Gupta and Mr. Sandeep Singh.
