
Jalandhar, Oct. 1 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Panther Division celebrated its 51th Raising Day on 01 Oct 2015. The Division was raised at Clement Town, Dehradun on 01 Oct 1964, under World War-II veteran, Maj Gen Niranjan Prasad and became fully operational in Mar 1965. History of Panther Division is a saga of valour and gallantry, replete with heroic deeds of unparalleled courage and supreme sacrifices. The Division achieved battle glories in the fierce battle of Dograi in 1965 Indo-Pak War and in the battle of Dera Baba Nanak and Fatehpur Burj in 1971 Indo-Pak War.
The celebration commenced with the Mandir Parade on 30 Sep 2015. Barakhana was organized for all ranks to commemorate the event. A Wreath Laying Ceremony was held on 01 Oct 2015 at the Panther Inspirational Park to pay respect to the Martyrs who laid down their lives for the country. The day was also dedicated to pay tributes to our brave hearts and veterans who have nurtured this Division with their unflinching devotion & sacrifice. Panther Division has continued to excel in all its endevours in the finest traditions of elite warriors. The Division has and will continue to live upto the spirit and ethos of Indian Army.
