“Sensors and Solar Cell Technology” organized at  BBK DAV College Women

Amritsar, Oct. 13 (Punjab Post Bureau) – A one day DBT Sponsored workshop on “Sensors and Solar Cell Technology” was organized by Department of Physics, BBK DAV College for Women. There were two guest lectures and one technical session during this workshop. On this occasion, the resource persons  Prof. R.C. Singh and Dr. Aman Mahajan were welcomed by the college Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra. Prof. R.C. Singh, Head, Department of Physics, Guru Nanak Dev University delivered a lecture on “Development of Gas Sensor”. During his lecture, he familiarized the students with the basic principles of sensors, latest sensing technology and applications of sensors in breath analysis, environmental monitoring, industrial production, detection of leakage of combustible and toxic gases etc. Another lecture was delivered by Dr. Aman Mahajan, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, Guru Nanak Dev University on “Solar Cell Technology”. During his lecture he introduced the students to the generation of solar cells, their types and applications of solar cells in calculators, watches, spacecraft etc. Thereafter a technical session was conducted in which students visited the research laboratories of Guru Nanak Dev University. Prof. R. C. Singh demonstrated the simple cost effective techniques for fabrications of gas sensor. He also acquainted the students with working and operation of gas sensors as well as various techniques to enhance the performance of gas sensor. Dr. Aman  Mahajan familiarized the students with the various materials and basic steps involved in operation of a solar cell. Both the guest lectures and a technical session were quite enlightening as well as learning for students where both the speakers handled all the queries. Dr. Shaweta Mohan, Head, Department of Physics, BBK DAV College for Women, extended a vote of thanks to the guests.
