
Amritsar, Oct 16 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The three day CBSE North Zone – II Girls Football Tournament was hosted by DAV Public School , Lawrence Road, Amritsar . Six teams from Punjab and Haryana registered in this tournament, around 120 girls participated in it .
The opening ceremony was presided over by Mrs. Tarundeep Kaur, Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax Circle – 5 Amritsar. Among the other dignitaries were Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra Regional Director, Amritsar Zone, Mrs. Vishal Kalia (HOD Spring Dale School ) CBSE Observer and Principals of DAV Schools of Amritsar. The ceremony began with the hoisting of CBSE flag which was followed by floral welcome, lighting of the lamp and DAV Anthem. The dynamic Principal of DAV Public School Dr. Neera Sharma extended a warm welcome to the guests. She also welcomed the visiting teams and their coaches.
Dr. Neelam Kamra addressed the audience and lauded the effort of CBSE in holding the meet to promote interaction and the value of sports among the children. She also quoted the words from Gita that Action is more important than result and one must give his best and take victory and defeat in the same spirit. A sensational patriotic dance performance by the young students of DAV Public School left an indelible impact on the audience. It evoked the feelings of dedication, devotion , togetherness and rekindled love for one’s nation.
The Chief Guest Mrs. Tarundeep Kaur , Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax , blessed the participants and inspired them to aspire for the National Championship by cultivating the qualities of discipline, team spirit and introspection. She authenticated that Sports and games are very essential for children as they enhance physical stamina. She also motivated the girls to excel in all fields and reach great horizons. She declared the meet open.
