VC Brar says education’s focus should be to polish personality

Amritsar, Nov. 7 (Punjab Post Bureau)- Guru Nanak Dev University vice-chancellor Dr.AS Brar today stated that the education is a great leveler and its primary focus should be polish the personality of the child. He said we are living in a world of competitiveness where mediocrity has no value and only the excellent achieve heights.

He was speaking at annual functions of Khalsa College Public School (KCPS) here today. Dr. Brar called upon society at large to focus on the imparting of value-based education to develop patriotic and service-oriented minds. DIG, Counter Intelligence, Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh and Khalsa College Governing Council honourary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina and Principal Dr.Sarvjit Kaur Brar addressed the students on the occasion.

The annual function was marked with the colourful extravaganza of cultural programs, dedicated to `incredible India’, in which the dances of almost all the states were performed. Apart from this fusion of music, the Gidda, Bhangra, Sufi singing and recital of Jugni was appreciated by the gathering of students and their parents.

The school’s magazine `Sirjan’ was also released on the occasion. Dr. S.Brar presented the annual report of school, narrating achievements of the school in academics, sports and cultural activities in last one year. Chhina said that extracurricular activities provide platform to the students to showcase their talent. He also sought the education to be made job-oriented and opening of the courses and educational programs. Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh appreciated rich Khalsa traditions which are inculcated amongst students.

The winner and meritorious students were honoured at both the school functions. KCGC additional honourary secretary Swinder Singh Kathunangal, Ajmer Singh Heir, Principal Dr.Mehal Singh, Principal Dr.SK Mahal, Dr.Amarpal Singh, Dr.SP Kaur Dhillon, Tejinder K Bindra, DK Sandhu, GK Kamboj were present and PNB Zonal head Surjit Singh were present.
