DAV Public School Pays Tribute to Punjab Kesari Lala Lajpat Rai

Amritsar, Nov. 17 (Punjab Post Bureau)-  DAV Public School, Lawrence Road paid rich tribute to the Lion of Punjab ,Lala Lajpat Rai. The students prepared a special assembly to pay homage to the great freedom fighter. They informed the students about his contribution in the freedom struggle of India. A small role  play was enacted by the students highlighting the protest by the  Indian freedom fighters at the arrival of Simon Commission at Lahore. The peaceful procession was headed by Lala Lajpat Rai. But the  march was intercepted by Superintendent of Police , Scott, who ordered Lathi – charge at the activists which resulted in severe injuries  to many including Lala Lajpat Rai. This  led to his death on November 17, 1928. The students sang patriotic songs and recited inspirational poems  on this occasion.  In the end the students took a pledge to imbibe moral values and tread the path of integrity and justice as shown by our great leaders and freedom fighters.

Regional Director Amritsar Zone Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra Principal BBK DAV College for Women, Lawrence Road, Amritsar and the Manager of the school, Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Principal DAV College, Hathi Gate sent their best wishes to the students on this occasion.They added  that he was one of the foremost leaders who fought against  British rule in India. His immense contribution in the freedom struggle will always be remembered with reverence.

Dr. Neera Sharma Principal of the school said that we must keep in mind the ideals of these great souls. She told the students that Lala Lajpat Rai believed that for a national cause, people must unite and organise themselves into a force and stand for  justice. She added that the need of the hour was to  join  hands and raise  voice against injustice.
