Amritsar Solid Waste Tender Allotted – Joshi

Amritsar, Nov. 19 (Punjab Post Bureua)- After a long wait, the residents of the holy city would be getting rid from the problem of solid waste disposal and the tourists visiting Amritsar would no more see the heaps of garbage strewn here and there.  Disclosing this here today Sh. Anil Joshi, Local Govt. Minister informed that the tender for the solid waste has been allotted to a consortium of M/S. Essel Infrastructure & Hitachi Josan @ Rs. 1350 per tonne for collection & transportation and Rs. 375 for processing & disposal of solid waste. These rates were brought down from Rs. 1620 & 630 after negotiations with the company. The other company which participated in the tender was M/S ECO Worldwide Waste Management Company.

The Minister said that he was confident that with the work of collection etc of solid waste  starting by the company w.e.f 1.1.16, the problem of  sanitation and cleanliness would be taken care of in a professional manner and the dream of Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi for a Swachh Bharat and Amritsar as a smart city would get a boost. The Minister appealed to the residents of the holy city to help the administration in its efforts for making Amritsar a clean and green city as no movement could succeed without the active participation and cooperation of the people.
