Sukhbir visits sites of ongoing development works-takes stock of status

Announces to make Amritsar country’s cleanest city in one year

Amritsar, Dec. 5 (Punjab Post Bureau)- Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal today announced that Amritsar will get a total facelift in coming months and by the end of December 2016 it will emerge as cleanest city in the country.

Asserting that within two-three months the city will witness an unprecedented change in its infrastructure besides becoming chaos and traffic jams free with wide road including world class civic infrastructure, Mr. Badal said that majority of ongoing development works will be concluded by the mid of next year. He also announced that work on Bus Rapid Transit System project at a cost of nearly 500 crore in the city has taken good pace and now after few months this project will be on advanced stage of completion as the work of widening of road with dedicated bus lanes were on full swing.

Mr. Badal along with Mayor Mr. Bakshi Ram Arora, Deputy Commissioner Mr. Ravi Bhagat, Commissioner Corporation Mr. Pardeep Sabharwal and other officers concerned of various development projects personally visits the sites of works to take stock of present situation. He also issued strict directions to all authorities to conclude the project within stipulated time frame besides maintain the quality and perfection.

Mr. Badal accompanied by Union Food Processing Minister Mrs. Harsimrat Kaur Badal visited under progress Urban Haat. It was informed that by April 2016 the work will be completed and it will showcase the unique food culture as well as handicrafts of the holy city of Amritsar along different means of entertainment of common masses. He said the best such establishments would be invited for this purpose so they could run their ventures here in the heart of city in front of Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital complex.

Mr. Badal also reviewed the progress of BRTS, under construction state of the art entrance gate of Amritsar to take a stock of work. He said that the work on this prestigious BRTS project was at full swing and the contractor has been asked to complete the work by mid 2016. The authorities have also informed the Deputy CM that the work of entrance gate was on advanced stage of completion and by February it will be dedicated to the people of country with heritage look.

Taking stock of ongoing work of world class façade from Hall Gate to Golden Temple, Mr. Badal also visited Town Hall, Fountain Chowk, Bhandari Bridge, BRTS site near Sadar Chowk.

Mr. Badal accompanied former Vice Chairman of Punjab Agro Industries Mr. Gurpartap Singh Tikka reviewed the status of sewerage and water supply project being executed at a cost of Rs. 203 crore at Sultanwind village. The project will extend benefits of civic amenities to Sultanwind Village, Daburji, Kot Mit Singh, Khalsa Nagar and adjacent localities of the area.

Meanwhile, Deputy CM also directed officers concerned to monitor the status regularly to keep a check on quality and perfection.
