
Amritsar, Dec. 24 (Punjab Post Bureau) – NSS Volunteers visited ‘Govt. High School’ at village Qilla Jeewan Singh, Manawala on third day of seven day NSS camp organized by BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar. During the visit Mrs. Anjana Anand (Senior Branch Manager), Mr. Bhushan Malik (Manager Regional office) OBC, Amritsar and Mr. Ranjodh (Manager Branch office), OBC Manawala delivered Lecture on ‘Financial Literacy’. They advised the students to inculcate the habit of saving by opening up bank account under various schemes. Ms. Veerawali and Mr. Vishal of computer department explained the concept of ‘E-Learning’ by teaching the students how to use Youtube, Facebook, Twitter and Wikipedia.
A two day workshop on tie and dye was also organized by NSS Unit in collaboration with Home Science department of BBK DAV College at cutting and stitching centre “Shakti Mahila Sahaita Kendar” at Anngarh on second of NSS Camp. The workshop was organized under the guidance of Professor Ms. Laxmikanta Chawla. Faculty of Home Science Department Mrs. Benu Kapoor, Mrs. Harpreet Dhillion, Mrs. Harpreet Aneja and Miss Isha taught the girls the technique of tie and dye, marbling, pleating, knotting and dying the clothes. Training was also imparted to girls regarding Block printing and Stencil printing as it can be a good source of earning for them. Professor Ms. Laxmikant Chawla interacted with the volunteers of NSS unit. She talked about the need of good education to girl child and laid stress on that only through education we can bring a change in society. She motivated the volunteers to serve the society.
Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra congratulated the NSS volunteers for their efforts. Mrs. Surbhi Sethi, NSS Coordinator encouraged the students to work with enthusiasm and dedication for the benefit of society. Mrs. Rajdeep Mehra, Ms. Neha Sehgal, Ms. Alpana Wahi, NSS Program officers briefed the students about the dimensions of value education and role of NSS for the uplif of our society.
