Fun Frolics mark the Lohri Celebration at KCW

Amritsar, Jan 12 (Dharmender Singh Rataul)- The fun and frolics mark the celebration of Lohri festival at Khalsa College for Women (KCW) here today. The festivities also stressed on need to educate girls to make her the self reliant. The students clad in colourful traditional dresses girls resorted to singing and dancing and organized a kite-flying competition.

            KCW Principal Dr. Sukhbir Kaur Mahal said the society need to change its mindset and girl education is must for building the just society. She said in recent times the Lohri for the girls is being celebrated which is a good sign as the society otherwise is discriminatory to the females. Dr.Mahal and other staff members ignited the fire and the girl students resorted to the traditional dance Gidha to the tunes of folk songs. Dr. Mahal said that as per the tradition of the College the Lohri was celebrated with enthusiasm and they made it a point that the inherent message of stressing upon the girls education was aired at this occasion.
