CTO, Videocon talks about fascinating trends in Global Tele- Communication &  Technology at GIA

Amritsar Feb. 10 ( Punjab Post Bureau) –  Global Institutes Amritsar (GIA) organized an expert talk by noted telecom professional, Mr. K K Sharma, Chief Technology Officer (CTO-Emerging Business) in Videocon Telecom. The interactive session was on latest trends and developments in the field of telecommunication & technology.

Around 400 students and faculty members of GIA from B.Tech (Electronics & Computer Science) attended the interactive session which delved in latest aspects of ICT (Information and communication technology) like IoE (Internet of Everything) IoT (Internet of Things) /M2M (machine to Machine) Platform, Cloud connection, Net-Neutrality, Smart City, 4G & Beyond Mobility Technologies.

With a proven track record of establishing large Network Hubs & Data Centres, launching Telecom Operations in record time and taking innovative and futuristic decisions across reputed Telecom companies in India, Mr Sharma has travelled extensively across Europe, China and many other South East Asian countries on various assignments.  Bringing a global perspective, on the scope and developments in the field of telecommunication, Mr Sharma said –“New technological terms have already become household names with the country’s Tech-savy Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressing on the urgent shaping up of “Digital India”, “Make in India”  and other such campaigns”.

With an experience of over 25 years in Telecom Technology, Mr. K K Sharma is an expert in handling Technology Operations and Project Management, while continuing his lecture, he stated –“Recently, a big controversy is going on in Telecom sector regarding Net Neutrality – which means the Internet service provider should be equal to all content and applications regardless of the source without favoring or blocking products or websites.”

Students were particularly keen about the workability of smart city project, as four cities in Punjab are enlisted in the shortlist of 98 Smart cities for India that includes union territory Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Amritsar. The young upcoming engineers in the technology sector were fascinated by the Mobile technology which is facilitating new, exciting user experiences, besides providing new revenue streams for telcos, new channels for business and access to automation for Telecom industry.

The issues of Cyber-security particularly  cybercrimes were discussed in detail. While interacting with students and faculty of Global Institutes, Mr. K K Sharma focussed on Business dynamics for ICT Technology based companies that undergo major changes where Smart City, IoT/M2M and other Data and Internet based services will offer huge business opportunities inline with Digital India, Make in India and Startup India initiatives of Government of India and respective State Governments.

 During the session, Mr. K K Sharma informed the students that Videocon is working on all these Technology domains and diversifying into new and Emerging Business verticals furthering the growth story for the company in Punjab and rest of India.

Earlier, the core management of Global Institutes Amritsar extended a warm welcome to the special guest, Mr. K K Sharma. Mr.Sharma announced that an “Advanced Communication Lab” shall be installed in the Electronics department of GIA, for imparting practical knowledge and training to upcoming Engineering students studying in under graduate and post graduate courses. He also promised to provide opportunities in Industrial training, Internships and subsequent absorption in his organization on basis of merit to students of Global Institutes.

At the end of the interactive session, Mr. K K Sharma was honoured by Dr. B S Chandi, Chairman-Global Institutes.

On this occasion, Dr. Akashdeep Singh, Vice Chairman-Global Institutes said that Global Institutes strives to encourage and expose its students to the latest and upcoming market trends and motivates them to orient themselves towards practical applications of the theoretical concepts.
