Amritsar, Feb. 19 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Keeping the CCE directions of CBSE in mind and to promote sports and games among students, DAV Public School, Lawrence Road inaugurated a two day Inter – section Soccer Tournament for Std – X here today. After the success of the Tendulkar Trophy for Std IX and seeing the enthusiasm of the students for the games like Cricket and football, this initiative was taken up under the guidance of the Principal of the school, Dr.Neera Sharma and the supervision of Mrs. Reman Sharma, Supervisor Std IX & X . On this occasion Mrs.Reman Sharma said that it was very important for the students to engage themselves in one or the other sport and inculcate values of sportsmanship and discipline. Conscious of the rising popularity of football among teenagers , she said that it was decided to give the students a platform to explore their talent. On the first day of the tournament four league matches were held . The students of Std X were divided into four teams and the first league match was held between Manchester Warriors and DFG Chargers. DFG Chargers won the match beating Manchester Warriors by 3 – 1.
In the second league match between Madrid devils and Barca Bulls. Barca Bulls won by 1 – 0. The third league match was a draw between Madrid devils and Manchester Warriors by 1 – 1. In the fourth league match DSG Chargers beat Barca Bulls to win the match by 1 -0 . The remaining matches will be held tomorrow. The sports departmenlt of the school organised the matches with great zeal keeping in spirit of the game high . Mr.Rajwant Singh and Mr. Gurbinder Singh Bhatti were the refrees for the game. The matches displayed some great goals and winning tactics by the students maintaining the interest of the audience till the end. Regional Director , Punjab Zone – A Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra and the Manager of the school , Dr. Rajesh Kumar Principal DAV College Amritsar congratulated the school for the initiative and asked the students to give their best. Principal of school Dr. Neera Sharma said that the she was happy to see the passion of the students for the game. She gave her best wishes to them and asked them to play a fair game .
