BBK DAV College organizes DBT-sponsored Two Days Workshop to Celebrate National Science Day

Amritsar March 3 (Punjab Post Bureau)-  Department of Chemistry of BBK DAV College for Women organized Two Days Workshop on ‘Designing and Fabrication of Smart Nanofibrous Drug Delivery System’  under DBT-sponsored Scheme on 1^st & 2^nd March 2016 to celebrate the National Science Day for the discovery of scattering of light (Raman effect) by C.V. Raman.

Dr. Sukhwinder K. Bhullar, Assistant Professor, Bursa Technical University, Turkey and Post Doctoral Fellow, University of Victoria, Canada was the resource person for this workshop. On 1^st March 2016, Dr. Bhullar provided hands-on training to the students regarding the preparation of nano-gold particles and nanofibrous structure. She discussed the application of nanofibres in smart medical devices- stents, drug delivery system, implants, prostheses, wound care and many other biomedical applications. On 2^nd March, Dr. Bhullar delivered a lecture on International Multidisciplinary Research and Funding Opportunities.

            Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia applauded the efforts of the department for conducting such an informative workshop. She said that these workshops are very helpful in acquainting students with research avenues and facilities for conducting multidisciplinary research. Dr. Poonam Khullar, Head, Department of Chemistry, along with their faculty members, attended the workshop.
