Women Judges inspires students for Women Empowerment through Education
Amritsar, Mar. 10 (Punjab Post Bureau)- The Women grievances and redressal cell of DAV College Amritsar took an initiative to organize a seminar on women empowerment to observe the International Women Day on March 8. Two women judges addressed to the female students as well as the staff members of the college. On this occasion, Additional district & Session Judge Harpreet Kaur Randhawa along with Chief Judicial Magistrate Girish Bansal was the chief guest, who inspired the students for women empowerment through education. Besides both women personalities also spoke about the The Hindu Succession Act, Domestic violence, Women empowerment through education and other issues of women in present society. Principal Dr Rajesh Kumar congratulated all the female staff members on the occasion of International Women Day. He added that such events are organized to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. Additional district and Session Judge Harpreet Kaur Randhawa created awareness among the women and staff members by explaining them briefly about their Rights and utilizing all those rights in better way. Chief Judicial magistrate Girish Bansal explained about the women safety and their rights. She also stressed upon the education of girls for better society. She said that girl education is the only gateway of women empowerment. Prof Parveen Kumari was the convenor of the event. While addressing the guests she said that such events help in accelerating gender parity. She added that International Women’s Day is all about celebration, reflection, advocacy, and action – whatever that looks like globally at a local level for welfare of women in the political and economic arenas. Dr Daisy Sharma, Administrator, Dr Rajni Khanna, Prof Ashima Walia, Prof Anita Sekhri, Prof Anita Prabhakar, Prof Nivedita, Prof Kamal Jeet Rana and others were also present during the event.
