
Amritsar, Mar. 16 (Punjab Post Bureau)- A seminar on the issue of `Migration in Literature’ was organized by the Post Graduate Department of English, Khalsa College in which Dr. Harish Narang, former Professor Jawaharlal Nehru University, highlighted how the migration was impacting the world politics in view of the Syrian crisis and European migration.
Dr. Narang referred to the various issues of migration literature including diasporic and post colonial writings. He also traced the history of migration to the earliest times and referred to the latest migration affecting the Europe today. He briefly gave description how the 1947 partition leading to mass migration between India and Pakistan affected the South Asian region.The technical session of the seminar was chaired by Prof. B.K. Sharma, Associate Professor Baring Union Christian College, Batala. About 15 scholars presented papers touching different aspects of migration. Prof. Rajinder Bagga shared her views on the topic. The valedictory address was delivered by Principal Dr. Mehal Singh.
He thanked the guests for sharing their views and making this seminar a good learning experience. Prof. Navneen Bawa, Head, Department of English, presented welcome address. Prof. Sukhmeen Bedi, Prof. Anupam Sandhu, Prof. Supinderjit Kaur, Prof. Parneet Dhillon, Prof. Sawant Singh Manto and Prof. Malkinder Singh, Heads and teachers of other departments were also present.
