Awareness and Vaccination Camp organized on World Vet Day at KCVAS

Amritsar, May 4 (Dharmender Singh Rataul)- A free vaccination and awareness camp for animals was organized at Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (KCVAS) today. Dedicated to the World Veterinary Day, the camp witnessed hundreds of animals including pets inquiring about the animal diseases and the health issues.

The doctors from College and internees gave valuable tips to the animal lovers during the camp and counseling was provided on feed and care of the animals free of cost. Khalsa College Governing Council honourary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina who was the chief guest at the occasion said farmers must adopting rearing of animals as an additional vocation for extra income.

“With the farming in distress and the farmers resorting to suicides, it is necessary that the farmers income increases. The livestock and milch animals rearing can get the farmers extra money for sustenance’’, said Chhina adding that the awareness is increasing amongst the farmers regarding he better health and productivity of the animals which is a healthy sign.

College Principal Dr.SK Jand said they Aim of celebrating the world vet day is to promote the work of veterinary professionals to improve animals’ welfare, food safety, quarantine, clinical practices and environment protection. “The veterinary professionals can play a fundamental role in society for well being of human and animal population’’, said he adding that various departments of colleges including Nutrition and Livestock Products Technology joined hands to organize the camp.

An exhibition on the operations and treatment of referred cases to the College’s Veterinary Hospital was also displayed and the companies producing various animal’s feed and medicines was also organized at the occasion. KCGC Finance secretary Gunbir Singh, joint secretaries Ajmer Singh Heir, SS Mannan, Principal Dr. SK Mahal, Dr.SS Sidhu, Dr. SK Nagpal, Prof. Jaspal Singh, Dr. ML Mehra , Dr. KS Minhas, Dr. JS Punia and many others were present.
