Jammu, May 13 (Punjab Post Bureau)- To commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of its raising, 28 Air Defence Regiment conducted a Blood Donation Camp at Madhopur today. The 28 Air Defence Regiment, also known as the ‘Thambi Tigers’ was converted from 16th Battalion The Madras Regiment on 14 May 1956. After successful conduct of various adventure activities like the mountain Trekking Expedition, Cycling Expedition, Sailing Expedition and Desert Safari, the Regiment now conducted a Blood Donation Camp in conjuction with the Government Civil Hospital. The volunteers for blood donation included the families of all ranks and the locals of Madhopur, Theariyal Premnagar and Jinai villages. The Camp was inaugurated by the Rising Star Air Defence Brigade in the presence of Dr Surender Singh, the incharge of Blood Bank at Government Civil Hospital, Pathankot. Speaking on the occasion Commander Air Defence Brigade highlighted the importance of Blood Donation which can help to save thousands of lives. Dr Surender further highlighted the importance of blood donation and stated that every year in India approximately thirty thousand people lose their lives due to non availability of blood on an immediate basis.
