Refresher Course in Information Tech. inaugurated at GNDU

 Amritsar, 24 June (Punjab Post Burea) – Ms. Nehpreet Kaur Walia, a student of Physics Department of Guru Nanak Dev University has been selected for Master’s at Imperial College London, UK and the University of Tokyo, Japan with full scholarship.  Dr. Ravi Chand Singh, Head of the Department said that both the universities are amongst the top ten universities in the field of Physics. During her MSc, she will work with the leading scientists of the world to do cutting-edge research on the Magnetospheric Multiscale (MMS) Mission of NASA, to explore the fundamental process of Magnetic Reconnection. Magnetic Reconnection is thought to be the prime cause of phenomena like solar flares, supernova ejections and radiation jets from black holes and quasars.

At Imperial, she will be supported with Imperial College India Foundation Scholarship which is given to only two students from India. It covers £ 25,000 tuition fee + £ 16, 296 living expenses along with to and fro airfare. She has also been awarded the Japanese Government MEXT Scholarship for pursuing her Master’s at the University of Tokyo, under which her full tuition fee has been waived off and a scholarship of ¥ 150,000 per month and airfare will be provided. Last year also, she was the only Indian student among the 23 students selected from all over the world for the fully funded University of Tokyo Research Internship Program (UTRIP-2015).
