Meritorious Scholarship introduced at Khalsa College with help from Dubai based Trust

PPN0807201610Amritsar, July 8 (Punjab Post Bureau) – A meritorious scholarship under which all the students who obtain 95 per cent or above marks in the 10+2 examination would get free education in the higher classes in the educational institutions under Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) and others. The scholarship will be entirely funded by the Dubai based Sarbat Da Bhalla Trust heradde by philanthropist SP Singh Oberoi. A meeting in this regard was held at KCGC office in which the offer was made by the Trust and accepted by the Council. This would give boost to the education to the students who are bright and intelligent but can not continue their higher studies for want of funding. “This would be boon for the meritorious students who despite being intelligent discontinue their higher studies for want of finance’’, said KCGC honourary secretarty Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina. Oberoi said that they had been getting numerous inquiries regarding the financial help to the students who gets merits in 10+2 exams and they have now framed the policy that any students who gets 95 per cent or above marks in this exam would get 90 per cent funds for their fees in the higher graduate and even post-graduate classes. The Trust however wants that after the students who gets education under the scholarship would also adopt another such student when he or she starts earning the livelihood.

Chhina said that the scholarships would be available to Society run schools and colleges and even to the outside educational institutions provided they fulfill the parameters to be laid down by the trust.
