
Amritsar, Aug. 30 (Punjab Post Bureau) – DAV Public School, Lawrence Road organised a special assembly in the school today to observe National Sports Days, Hyderabad Satya grah Diwas and Death anniversary of Pandit Ganga Prasad Upadhya.
To commemorate the birth anniversary of the great hockey wizard , Major Dhyan Chand , the school celebrated the National Sports Day. On this occasion the students remembered the great player and took an oath to take inspiration from the eventful life of the distinguished player. They also mentioned about the importance of Sports in one’s life and how it helps to remain active and healthy.
The school also observed the day as Hyderabad Satya graha Diwas which was launched by the Arya Samaj and Hindu Mahasabha as a protest against the persecution of Hindus by the Nizam government of Hyderabad . Arya Samaj played an important role in limiting the agitation , and not giving it a political or communal colour.The students were informed about the movement and the perseverance with which the Arya Samaj led a peaceful agitation against the atrocities of the Nizaims.
The students also paid homage to a renowned Arya Samaji writer Pandit Ganga Prasad Upadhaya on his death anniversary. He was a revolutionary writer known for his notable works. He also played a significant role in the freedom struggle of India. Students remembered him by reciting poems and singing patriotic songs.
Regional Director Punjab Zone-A Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra and Dr.Rajesh Kumar , Manager of the school appreciated the students for observing such days and advised them to respect great legends like Dhyan Chand and Pandit Ganga Prasad Updhya and take pride in celebrating Indian culture and heritage. Dr. Neera Sharma Principal of the school motivated the students to take part in games and advised them to imbibe the values of honesty, team spirit and sacrifice.
