
Amritsar, September 5 (Punjab Post Bureau)- The Students of DAV Public School Lawrence Road dedicated the special programme presented by them on the eve of Teachers’ Day to the great philosopher and educator ‘Dr.Sarvepalli Radhakrishanam’ on his birth anniversary. Honourable IPS Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, IGP , Special Task Force, Intelligence, Chandigarh , Punjab was the Chief Guest of the day. He was accompanied by his graceful wife, Mrs.Madhumita. Esteemed Regional Director , Punjab Zone A , Dr.(Mrs.) Neelam Kamra graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour.
After the ceremonial lamp lighting, the Regional Director , Punjab Zone A Dr.(Mrs.) Neelam Kamra formally welcomed the Chief Guest. While addressing the audience, she said that “Kunwar Vijay Pratap is a true role model for the young generation as he is known for his integrity and honesty, the much needed value in the coming generation”. She congratulated the teachers on this occasion and motivated them to be a guiding star for their students taking them out of the darkness of ignorance. She also conveyed the message of Arya Ratan Sh. Punam Suri ji , President DAV CMC, New Delhi to the teachers that they should propagate moral values in the class and devote at least five minutes everyday for the same to enrich the students.
The students put up a scintillating show for the teachers which included thanks giving poems, songs, bhangra, Kathak , Gidha and a tableau highlighting the teachings and wisdom of great scholars and teachers like Mahatma Gandhi , Swami Vivekanand, Mother Teresa, Rabindranath Tagore, Chanakya, Jija Bai, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam etc. A yoga presentation marked the need of staying fit amidst all the hustle and bustle of life. The teachers were engaged in many fun games, bringing childhood memories back. On this occasion, 9 members of the teaching, non –teaching staff of the school were honoured by the Chief Guest , Sh. Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh for successfully completing 20 years of service. In his address, he said that the teachers are true mentors. There is no denying the fact that a nation’s progress depends upon its education and teachers play an important role by building the character of students and shaping them to become an ideal citizen of the country. During his speech, he became nostalgic and shared memories of his school and college days and showed gratitude to his teachers. He inspired the teachers to follow the moto of ‘Learning, Performing and Reforming’ in their lives. He added that providing education is the highest charity one can offer and a teacher is highly respected for that. Addressing the students, he asked them to realise their potential and be disciplined for fulfilling their dreams.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Neera Sharma Principal of the school said “ A teacher affects eternity. Every student is a teachers’ produce and encouraging words from a teacher leaves an everlasting impression on their mind.” She congratulated the teachers on this occasion and called them pillars of a students’ success. She expressed her gratitude to all the luminaries for gracing the occasion. Dr. Rajesh Kumar , the Manager of the school sent his choicest blessings on this occasion for all the teachers.
