
Amritsar, Sept. 5 (Punjab Post Bureau) – DAV College, Hathi Gate organized an academic cum cultural event on the occasion of ‘Teachers Day Celebration’. The function started with a DAV Gaan followed by a floral tribute to Dr. S Radhakrishnan by worthy Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar and faculty members of the college. The function was jointly organized by Department of Chemistry and Department of Mass Communication & Video Production under the supervision of Dr. Anita Mahajan, HoD of Chemistry and Prof Arif Nazir, HoD of Mass Communication & Video Production.
Dr. Anita Mahajan, HoD of chemistry explained the importance of the day with some references from the past highlighting the importance of teacher for nation building. Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar paid tribute to Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, former President of India. In his address, he said that teachers are an important part of society and nation building. He gave examples of some great scholars and social reformers like Swami Vivekananda, Chanakya, who are known as greatest teachers and social reformers and have changed the very structure of society. The address was followed by a short documentary on Dr. S Radhakrishnan by the students of Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication highlighting the life and achievements of former president of India.
Shivam Baljotra of BJMC-III semester recited a self composed poem stressing upon the importance of ‘Guru’ in one’s life. Livjit Kaur and Arshdeep Kaur, students of Mass Communication & Video Production presented a talk and self composed poem on the occasion. The event also witnessed a slogan writing competition in which students of BSc (Medical, Non Medical, and Biotechnology) and students of Mass Communication participated. The event concluded with prize distribution ceremony in which trophies were given to the winners of slogan writing completion.
The event was attended by office bearers of the college including Prof Ashima Walia, Prof Daizy Sharma, Prof B.B Yadav and other faculty members of the department of Sciences and Mass Communication.
