Amritsar, October 2 (Punjab Post Bureau)- The Biannual Global Premier League-2016, Season 2, T-10 cricket tournaments saw an impressive display of cricket by various departments of Global Institutes Amritsar (GIA) at its Cricket stadium. In the semifinals the Department of Mech Engineering trounced Department of Polytechnic Diplomas, scoring –109 runs and won the match by 58 runs. In the other semifinal Civil Engineering won against CSE by 34 runs after scoring 98 runs in the match.
In the breakneck finals, between the Department of Mech Engineering (ME) and Civil Engineering, Civil elected to bat first and scored 63 runs while ME could only score 57 runs and lost by 6 runs. The winning team of Civil Engineering included Sukhbir Singh (Captain) with team members Arshdeep Salmad (Vice Captain), Kunal Khajuria, Salinder Singh, Ritesh Goel, Randhir Singh, Aaqib Mir, Sunit Pal, Faizan Javaid, Mohd Ramzan, Abhijeet Singh as wicket keeper, Anshul Vaishnawi, Toko Ticher, Abid Khurshid, Choudhry Bilal, Rajeesh Hansa. The Man of the Match Title was awarded to Randhir Singh of ME Department for scoring 11 runs and taking 3 wickets. The Highest Wicket Taker Title was bagged by Mohammed Ramzan of Civil Department for taking 8 wickets. Best Batsman title was awarded to Anshul Vaishnavi of Civil Department for scoring 42 runs in 3 matches. The Man of the Series title was won by Mohammed Ramzan of Civil Department.
A total of 8 student teams from all departments participated in tournament including B.Tech Mechanical was led by Jatinder Kumar; B.Tech, ECE, IT was captained by Syad Rizwan, B.Tech CSE led by Bashart Malik, B.Tech Civil Captained by Sukhbir Singh, Polytechnic Diplomas led by its Captain – Gurpreet Singh, HMCT,ATHM Captained by Ikhlaq Hamid, MBA, MCA, M.Tech combined Captained by Yasir Gulzar, Agriculture, B.Com, BCA, BBA combine was captained by Vishal Kaul. Vice Chairman Dr. Akashdeep Singh, GIA, presented the prizes to winners at an impressive closing ceremony.
