‘A’ Zone Zonal Youth Festival inaugurated at Guru Nanak Dev University

ppn0610201611Amritsar, October 6 (Punjab Post Bureau)- Zonal Youth Festival of A Zone was inaugurated here today in the Dashmesh Auditorium of the Guru Nanak Dev University. As many as 500 students-artists are participating in 34 items of Music, Theatre, Dance, Literary & Fine Arts. This festival would be concluded on October 9. Dr, Sarvjit Kaur Brar, Lady Vice-Chancellor formally inaugurated this festival by lighting the candles. Sh. Vijay Sharma, Senior Vice-President, Virsa Vihar was the guest of honour. Dr. Jagjit Kaur, Director, Youth Welfare welcomed the chief guest and others. She gave detail of the achievements of Youth Welfare Department. Dr. Sarvjit Kaur Brar said that youth festivals are important part of student life which not only help in their overall growth but also provide them opportunity to explore new friends and social circle. She said that student should dream big and act with hard work to make their dream success. Sh. Vijay Sharma said that winner is always that person who had confidence and courage to perform on stage.

Dr. Jagjit Kaur also honoured Chief Guest and guest of honour with mementos. Today, the festival was started with the item of Bhangra Skit followed by Group Song (Indian), Vaar Singing, Kavishri, Group Shabad/Bhajan, Painting, Collage, Poster Making, Photography, Cartooning, Clay Modeling and Installation.

On October 7 the competitions of Mimicry, Mime, Costume Exhibition, Skit, Folk Instruments, Geet/Gazal, Folk Song, Elocution, Poetical Symposium, Debate, Rangoli, Phulkari will be organized. On October 9 the competitions of One Act Play, Group Dance, Classical Instrument (Percussion), Classical Instruments (Non-Percussion), Classical Vocal, Quiz (Preliminary). On the last day i.e. October 9, the competitions of Classical Dance, Gidha, Western Vocal Solo and Western Group Song followed by prize distribution function will be organized.
