Amritsar, October 18 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Guru Nanak Dev University organized All India Inter-University Road Cycling (M&W) Championships 2016-2017. More than 33 (Men and Women) university teams comprising about 250 cyclists from all over the country took part in this championship. About 15 International cyclists also participated in this championship. The championships were finished with great success. The closing ceremony function was celebrated in Guru Nanak Auditorium of the University, here today. Prof. Ajaib Singh Brar, Vice-Chancellor gave away the medals and trophies to the position holders. Prof. Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, Registrar, Dr. Pushpinder Walia, President GNDU Sports Committee (Women) & Principal BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar and Dr. H.S. Randhawa, Deputy Director Sports & Head, Organzing Secretary, AIIU Road Cycling (M&W) Championship were also present in this function. GNDU Cycling (Men) team was overall Champion with 26 points. Kurukshetra University was overall runners-up with 14 points and MGSU Bikaner was overall third with 4 points. GNDU Cycling (Men) team won three gold and one silver medal. Likewise, GNDU Cycling (Women) team was overall Champion with 27 points Panjab University Chandigarh was Overall runners-up with 7 points and Punjabi University Patiala was Overall third with 7 points. GNDU Cycling (Women) team won three gold and one silver medal.
