BBK DAV Hosts 47th Annual Awards Day

Amritsar, October 28 (Punjab Post Bureau) – BBK DAV College for Women hosted 47th Annual Awards Day to felicitate the young achievers in the field of academics, cultural and extracurricular activities. Hon’ble Er. Shwait Malik, Member Parliament, Rajya Sabha was the Chief Guest for the occasion.

Welcoming the guests, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia said that it was a proud moment for the college to honor the students who have always performed and maintained merit positions throughout in GNDU examinations and various co-curricular activities, hence making BBK DAV College one of the top ranking women institutions of  North India.  Addressing the students, she said that awards give one the taste of success. However, in the journey of life, one may stumble or fall sometimes but what is important is that you can always get up and move forward with full gusto. She also presented the Annual report highlighting college achievements in various arenas.

Er. Shwait Malik, said in his address that DAV institutions were established with a dream of literate India and the DAV vision is fulfilling this dream with complete commitment and dedication. He added that skill development is the need of the hour and we, as a country can progress only by imparting skill based education to our young generation.  He said that we all should move forward to fulfil the dream of our visionary Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi to be a job provider rather than a job seeker. He blessed the students for their glorious career and announced a grant of Rs. 10 lacs for the upliftment of the institution.

Nearly 700 students were honored on this day. Ms. Drishti Mishra was awarded with Late Smt. Saraswati Devi Award for Excellence in Academics as well as Co- curricular activities. Ms. Tanya was given Late Sh. A.S. Soni Award for All rounder best student and Ms. Gagandeep Kaur was awarded with Sports Star of the year award. The College News Bulletin was also released on this event. College students enthralled the audience with their mesmerizing performance of the play named Mein Jeena Chahti hoon.

Sh. Sudershan  Kapoor, Chairman, Local Managing Committee, presented vote of thanks and said that one must work hard as success is never handed on a platter. DAV stalwarts Dr. V P Lakhanpal, Advocate Vipin Bhasin, Principal Dr. Neera Sharma, Smt. Iqbal Singh Bedi, Dr.Manchanda, Mr.M.L Batra were also present on the occasion.
