Amritsar, November 2 (Punjab Post Bureau)- Final Zonal Youth Festival of Guru Nanak Dev University was inaugurated here today in the Dashmesh Auditorium of the University with bhangra. Students-artists are participating in 34 items of Music, Theatre, Dance, Literary & Fine Arts. This festival would be concluded on November 5.
Prof. Ajaib Singh Brar, Vice-Chancellor formally inaugurated this festival by lighting the candles. Prof. Jagrup Singh Sekhon, Professor Incharge Examinations was the guest of honour. Dr. Jagjit Kaur, Director, Youth Welfare welcomed the chief guest and others. She gave detail of the achievements of Youth Welfare Department. Prof. Brar said that vision, determination and success are the important part of successful life of students. He said that these youth festivals help them for their overall personality development, so they should participate in without bothering the results. He said that judges should give their judgements without any bias.
Today, the festival was started with the item of Bhangra followed by Mimicry, Mime, Group Shabad/Bhajan, Group Song (Indian), Kavishri, Vaar Singing, Poetical Symposium, Painting, Cartooning, Poster and Photography, Collage, Clay Modelling, Installation and classical vocal.
On November 3 the competitions of Costume Exhibition, Skit, One Act Play, Western Vocal Solo, Western Group Song, Classical Instrument (Purcussion), Classical Instruments (Non-Percussion), Elocution, Debate, Rangoli and Phulkari will be organized. On November 4 the competions of One Act Play, Gidha, Classical Dance, Quiz (Prilimnary), Geet/Gazal and Folk Song will be organized. On the last day i.e. November 5, the competitions of Folk Instruments and Group Dance followed by prize distribution function will be organised.
